Marquette beats South Florida 70-47

TAMPA, Fla.  -- Todd Mayo and Vander Blue scored 13 points each to help Marquette beat South Florida on Wednesday night.

Mayo scored all of his season-high 13 points in the first half of the game to put Marquette up 39-16 at halftime.

South Florida got within 20 early in the second half before the Golden Eagles went up by 25, thanks to Junior Cadougan's long-range jumper.

Marquette later extended the lead to 29 and went on to win 70-47.

The win puts Marquette in a tie with Syracuse for first place in the Big East standings.
