Donald Driver says goodbye
GREEN BAY - One of the most prolific Packers careers of any generation came to an official end Wednesday morning in the atrium at Lambeau Field, as Donald Driver said goodbye in front of more than a thousand fans.
Drivers's emotions got the best of him several times during his farewell speech, as the 14 year wide receiver reflected back on his playing career and the people who helped make his success possible.
Driver said fans who stood out in the cold for tickets to his retirement event were 'crazy', but that their loyalty and respect was appreciated.
Mike McCarthy choked up during his brief speech at the outset of the event, and Ted Thompson even had difficulty keeping his emotions in check.
Driver, drafted in the seventh round in 1999, became the Packers all time leader in receptions and receiving yards. He played all 14 seasons in Green Bay.
