Burgos wins major league debut 5-1 over Cubs
MILWAUKEE - Hiram Burgos threw five solid innings in his major league debut, and the Brewers took advantage of some Cubs fielding miscues in a 5-1 win.
The Brewers have now won 6 straight and are back at .500 on the season at 8-8.
Burgos gave up five hits and just one run in his first outing as a Brewer. Burgos struck out just one batter, but did not allow a walk.
Jonathan Lucroy's solo homer in the second started the scoring. The Brewers added two more in the fifth inning thanks to miscues in the field by Alfonso Soriano and Starlin Castro.
The Brewers have won 17 of their last 19 against the Cubs at Miller Park. Wily Peralta starts Sunday afternoon as the Brewers try to finish the six game homestand without a loss.
