PITTSBURGH - The Brewers are making a very familiar call, not to the bullpen, but rather to help the bullpen.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports the Brewers have called up Francisco Rodriguez to join the team Wednesday night for game three of the series in Pittsburgh.

Rodriguez, an All-Star and the all-time single-season leader in saves, signed a minor league contract with the Brewers several weeks ago. Rodriguez could have opted out of that contract and become a free agent if the Brewers didn't call him up this week.

Rodriguez, known by many fans as "K-Rod", pitched in the Brewers bullpen in 2011 and 2012, and played a key role in the Brewers NL Central title win in 2011.
