Brewers lose to Pirates after bullpen collapse

MILWAUKEE - John Axford allowed four runs in a disastrous eighth inning as the Brewers lost 6-4 to the Pirates Wednesday at Miller Park.

Axford entered the game with the Brewers leading 4-2, but allowed a two-run homer to Starling Marte to tie the game before giving up two more runs later in the inning. A Rickie Weeks error contributed to one of the runs scoring.

Carlos Gomez and Yuniesky Bertancourt homered on back to back pitches for the Brewers, who host the Cardinals in a four-game series starting Thursday.
