Brewers drop 7-1 decision as Byrd debuts for Pirates

PITTSBURGH - Marlon Byrd stepped to the plate in the seventh inning with the Pirates looking for insurance, and delivered with a three-run home run in the Pirates' 7-1 win Wednesday.

Tom Gorzelanny gave up four runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss. The lone Brewers run scored on a Russell Martin throwing error.

Yovani Gallardo gets the start for the Brewers in the series finale Thursday. The Brewers return to Miller Park Friday.
