Brewers bullpen melts down in 5-4 loss in Texas
ARLINGTON, TX - Three combined walks from Michael Gonzalez and John Axford in the seventh inning proved to be the Brewers undoing in Wednesday night's 5-4 loss to Texas.
Juan Francisco drove in all four Brewers runs with a pair of home runs, the second of which was a three-run shot. Francisco has hit 11 homers in his last 40 games.
Tyler Thornburg pitch six strong innings before Gonzalez and Axford combined to lose the 4-2 lead in the seventh. The Rangers scored three times, then turned to setup man Tanner Scheppers and closer Joe Nathan to finish the game.
The Brewers return home Thursday night to start a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds.
