Brewers' Peralta scratched from final start
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Milwaukee rookie right-hander Wily Peralta still has soreness in his right biceps and won't pitch Tuesday night against San Diego, Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Saturday.
The 23-year-old Peralta, the team's top pitching prospect, was removed after pitching 5 1-3 scoreless innings Thursday night at Cincinnati. He threw in the bullpen before Saturday night's game against Houston. "It's not bad, but he's still having a little bit of tightness," Roenicke said. "It's not worth doing it." Peralta, finished the season 2-1 with a 2.48 ERA in six games, five starts. He made one relief appearance in April and joined the rotation when he was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Sept. 4. A replacement for Tuesday night's game has not been determined. For Nashville, Peralta was 7-11 with a 4.66 ERA in 28 starts. |
