Arrowhead beats Sun Prairie 35-14 in Div. 1
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Senior quarterback Brady Kelliher threw three touchdowns and Hartland Arrowhead's defense forced two turnovers, helping lead the Warhawks to a 35-14 victory over Sun Prairie in the WIAA Division 1 championship Friday night at Camp Randall.
The victory gives undefeated Hartland Arrowhead (13-0) its fifth state championship in its 10th appearance since 1993. The Warhawks -- ranked No. 1 in Division 1 since the preseason -- scored on three of their fourth drives against a Cardinals defense that allowed only 26 points (3.25 per game) in the regular season. The Warhawks' 35 first-half points tied the Division 1 record. Sun Prairie (12-1) was the last Madison-area team to appear in a Division 1 state championship game, winning the title in 1995. |
