Mark McGinnis

Chief Meteorologist

Chief Meteorologist Mark McGinnis joined CBS 58 in February 2005, as Morning Meteorologist for The CBS 58 Morning Express. By December of 2005, Mark moved to weekday evenings and now can be seen at 5:00pm and 10:00pm giving you your full First Alert Forecast in the first ten minutes.

Mark grew up near Philadelphia, Pa. and enjoyed snowstorms as a youth. The fascination with snow triggered his interest in Meteorology at an early age. He frequently gave forecasts for his family at the dinner table and at school for teachers and friends. Pursuing his interest, he attended the University of North Carolina- Asheville and graduated with a degree in Atmospheric Sciences.

Mark comes from Hurricane country. He started in 1996 at WCTI in New Bern, NC and moved to WWAY in Wilmington, NC in 1997, the last four years at WWAY as Chief Meteorologist. In his 9 years on the North Carolina coast, Mark has been in Hurricanes Bertha, Fran, Bonnie, Dennis, Fran, Irene, Isabel and Charley. He is very happy to be here in Wisconsin, far away from hurricanes. Mark is a member of the AMS and NWA and holds the AMS Seal. He won the AP award for Best Weather in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Mark is married. Wife, Donna is from Antioch, IL and they are very happy to be closer to family and friends. They have two wonderful sons, Evan- 10 and a Fifth Grader, and Owen – born at Waukesha Memorial and now 6 years old. By the way, Evan’s birthday is June 1st- the first day of Hurricane Season.
