Stephanie Brown reports for all of CBS58 Newscast. You can primarily catch her live reporting during the 5pm news. The Chicago native joined CBS58 as a reporter and fill-in anchor in November of 2007.
One of the highlights of her career was her sit down one-on-one interview with now Archbishop Timothy Dolan. One of her strengths is her ability to connect with a diverse array of people and that connection was evident in this story. Brown, notes that some of her most recognized coverage was when she and her photo journalist were first on the scene of what turned out to be an I-94 six hour stand-off . They were able to capture the first images of the car, driver and his passenger who refused to get out of the vehicle despite SWAT team response. Brown was reporting live before any other station in the market and stayed on the scene the entire stand-off.
She's done several national live shots for CBS news New York. Among the most remembered by some of her loyal viewers was the 20 foot sink hole on Milwaukee's East side.
Brown's reporting has taken her to the heart of Milwaukee's neighborhoods, and to it's neighboring small towns. She's gone as far north as Green Bay and as far south to the Illinois border to bring Southeast Wisconsin viewers the news of the day.
She's dedicated to telling stories in an honest, relatable way. When putting her stories together, she always reminds herself to imagine being in the shoes of the person whom she's reporting on. In the age of tabloid journalism and the fight for every rating, she challenges herself everyday to present the story and let the viewer conclude his or her own opinion.
Before joining CBS58, Brown was the morning and noon anchor for WMBD-TV in Peoria IL. The anchor desk feels like home to Brown, but as the primary live-shot reporter for the first three years of her CBS58 tenure she cherishes the many live breaking news stories she's carried throughout her career.
