Woman Crashes on Heroin with 4-Month-Old Son in Car

A woman crashed her vehicle intoxicated with her 4-month-old son in the backseat.

On Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 11:03am, the Dane County Communications Center received a call of a woman passed out in a vehicle, with a baby crying in the back seat, in the parking lot of the Old Towne Coffee House in the Village of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.

Cottage Grove Police, along with Deputies from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office responded and the vehicle had left the area.

Law enforcement personnel continued searching and a Dane County Deputy located the same vehicle, a 2011 Toyota Rav4, in the ditch near CTH N and Natvig Road in the Town of Cottage Grove.

The vehicle had gone off the roadway, crashed and had come to a stop in a small creek bed.

Dane County Deputies arrested Sarah K. Bowles (age 28) from Fitchburg, Wisconsin for felony OWI-3rd with a Passenger Under 16, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a Probation Hold. Bowles was also issued citations for Operating After Revocation, Failure to Maintain Control and Failure to Install a required Interlock Ignition Device.

Deputies located Bowles’ 4 month-old son, properly restrained in a child safety seat, inside the vehicle. Bowles and her son were evaluated by Deer Grove EMS personnel and were uninjured in the crash. The baby was turned over to a family member and Ms. Bowles was booked into the Dane County Jail.
