West Allis Sees OWI Increase of 35% in 2016

According to a post on their Facebook Page, the West Allis Police Department made 711 arrests for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) in 2016. This is an increase of nearly 35% from 2015.

In their post police ask citizens to, "please be responsible in 2017 -- don't operate a motor vehicle if you are impaired from drinking and/or using drugs. Don't forget that prescription medication with or without alcohol or other drugs/medications can cause impairment. Intoxicated drivers greatly endanger the lives of themselves and others. Those arrested for OWI face substantial fines and other costs, loss of driving privileges, jail time, a compromised reputation, and potentially other consequences."
