Vehicle stolen after left running in front of Shorewood business

SHOREWOOD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Shorewood Police are again reminding residents not to leave their vehicles running after a victim had his car stolen.

Police responded to a motor vehicle theft in the 4100 block of N. Oakland Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police say the victim left his car running and unattended while he went into a local business. The thief then entered the unlocked vehicle and drove off with the victim's car.

Police again would like to remind everyone not to leave their vehicle's running and unattended. "It only takes seconds for a thief to enter the vehicle and drive away with it. We would also like to remind everyone to lock your vehicle anytime it is unattended, and to not leave a key (even a “hidden” one) inside of your unattended vehicle. "
