Two Charged after Bar Fights in Mount Pleasant

On Sunday at 2:19 AM, Mount Pleasant Police Officers were dispatched to the 2100 Block of Racine Street in the Village of Mount Pleasant in reference to a complaint from a bar that multiple fights had erupted outside and inside their establishment.

While officers were responding, the bar reported that four separate fights were ongoing: one in the bar, two outside, one in the parking lot.

Mount Pleasant Police, Racine Police Department, Racine County Sheriff’s Office, and the Wind Point Police Department all responded.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to gain order from the chaos of the fights. One individual began fighting with a Deputy of the Racine County Sheriff’s Office was pepper sprayed and taken into custody.

It was later learned by Mount Pleasant Police conducting the investigation into this complaint, that the suspect who had fought with the officer was one of the main instigators into this event. That man was identified as Jared Carbajal, age 29, of Racine. Carbajal also had two active warrants for his arrest out of Mount Pleasant.

During the course of the investigation, another individual responsible was identified as Jessica Cruz, age 29, of Racine who was also taken into custody for disorderly conduct.

Carbajal was charged with one count battery, two counts disorderly conduct and one account of resisting/obstructing an officer. Cruz was charged with one count of disorderly conduct.

Alcohol was a factor for the behavior exhibited.

This matter is now being handled by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
