Traffic stop results in Felony arrests in Mount Pleasant

A traffic stop in Mount Pleasant Saturday night has landed four Racine men in the county jail.

Around 11:20 PM Saturday,  Mount Pleasant Police stopped the suspect’s vehicle near 23rd and Howe Streets and noticed the smell of narcotics.   When the four suspects were asked to identify themselves, one attempted to hide his identity by lying to the Police.   When a positive ID was obtained, it was discovered that two of the suspects had active warrants for their arrest and two were on probation for felony offenses.

Police then searched the vehicle and found two handguns, one of which was stolen in a burglary in the City of Burlington.   All four men, ages 31, 29, 27 and 25-years-of age were arrested and taken to the Racine County Jail.  They face charges of Felony Probation Violation, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of Stolen Property, Obstructing the Police, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of Prescription Medicine.

The matter is still under investigation by the Mount Pleasant and Burlington Police Departments.
