Wrong-way driver charged with 3rd OWI

MILWAUKEE -- 69-year-old Patrick Coffey is charged with his third OWI offense after allegedly driving the wrong way on I-94 for more than 10 miles. Coffey was spotted driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-43 near National Ave., and was finally stopped near the Milwaukee-Racine County border.

Coffey was arrested by Racine County sheriff deputies on I-94 near the Milwaukee-Racine County border. When officers arrested Coffey, they found a half pint of Fleischmann's vodka and a ticket stub for Irish Fest.

According to the criminal complaint, Coffey's blood alcohol concentration was .19. The sheriff's office tells us Coffey failed to perform sobriety tests.

The Department of Transportation released footage of Coffey's journey down the wrong direction on I-94. Several cars can been seen swerving to avoid a collision Coffey. Click one the player above to see the DOT footage.
