Artist makes portrait of Pope Benedict XVI out of condoms
MILWAUKEE -- A local woman completed a portrait of Pope Benedict XVI using condoms, knowing the havoc it would cause. The colorful depiction made from 17,000 condoms took nearly 270 hours to complete.
In 2009, Artist Niki Johnson heard Pope Benedict XVI speak about Africa's AIDS problems. Johnson says the Pope said if Africans don't help the problems cannot be overcome by the distribution of prophylactics.
Johnson knew her work would get some attention, but never imagined it would span worldwide.
