Racine County politicians oppose tax for new NBA arena
RACINE -- Racine County Executive James Ladwig released a statement coming out against any new regional tax to fund a new Milwaukee arena that includes Racine County.
County Executive Ladwig says, "Racine County wanted to be proactive and clear in our opposition to being part of any financing plan for a new NBA and entertainment arena of any improvements to the existing Bradley Center.
The Racine County Executive Committee passed the opposing resolution on July 16th. County officials say their services are budgeted without imposing a tax on anyone living outside the county.
This resolution also opposes the extension of the Miller Park stadium tax.
Ideas are still being cultivated from both the public and private sector for ways to fund either a BMO Harris Bradley Center renovation or the building of a new arena in downtown Milwaukee.
