Nine Milwaukee firefighters suspended
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Fire Department suspended nine firefighters for actions we're told are "in contravention" to the department's values.
Nine Milwaukee firefighters may lose their jobs after causing damage to the fire house at 30th and Galena. Milwaukee Fire Chief Mark Rohlfing says the damage was done over the past weekend.
We're told the nine men were upset over transfers and reassignments being handed out by the department. Chief Rohlfing said a previous investigation led him to believe that house could use some new faces. He said the firefighters were notified of the transfers on September 26th, and those transfers went into effect on September 29th.
In a letter, Milwaukee Fire Chief Mark Rohlfing says the department is consulting with the City Attorney's Office during their internal investigation.
City of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett says he's aware of the situation, and hopes the department's investigation is thorough.
