TOWN OF NORWAY --- Residents were evacuated from their homes Saturday afternoon after a natural gas line was hit.

It happened around 12:15 p.m. outside of 7220 W. Wind Lake Rd. in the Town of Norway in Racine County. A caller reached out to the digger's hotline after they hit a natural gas line with an auger.

Racine County Sheriff's Deputies and the Town of Norway Police responded to the scene. Two other fire agencies assisted in evacuating the resident in a one block radius of the leak.

WE Energies personnel were able to seal the leak after about three hours and residents were allowed back into their homes shortly after.
