Multiple fire departments respond to two-alarm fire in East Troy

EAST TROY -- Several fire departments responded to a two-alarm fire in downtown East Troy early Friday morning. The two story building that caught fire contained two businesses and four apartments. The fire spread next door to a barber shop and two more apartments.

Chris O'Brien lived in one of the apartments that is now destroyed. She says police called her around 2:00 am and told her to get outside as soon as possible. " I just grabbed my dog my purse and I ran out the back and when I looked behind me building next to me was completely engulfed in flames." She says she watched the flames as firefighter rushed to the scene. "I just stood there and watched my house burn down." says O'Brien.

A spokesperson for the American Red Cross says the organization is assisting seven families find food and shelter.

Elizabeth Erman ran Synergy Home Care out of one the buildings that is now destroyed. "We haven't even been in business a year and the struggle of opening a new franchise and working through all the kinks. It's just another hurdle

We're told all residents made it out without injury. Residents told us the building was built in the 1900s, and it had electrical issues.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
