McDonald's employees protest for higher wages

by Becky Mortensen

MILWAUKEE --- McDonald's employees walked off the job this morning as part of a campaign called Raise Up Milwaukee. Its goal is to get a $15 an hour wage and the right to form a union.

This protest isn't just aimed at McDonald's workers. Employees from stores like Foot Action, Simply Fashion along with other popular fast food chains are also walking off the job today.

Protesters say it's because 100,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost in the metro Milwaukee area since the 1980's and many of those workers had to take low wage fast food and retail jobs.

CBS 58's Stephanie Brown met with protesters outside of McDonald's today. Click the video to watch her report.
