RACINE COUNTY—A child is recovering after a hit and run accident.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Department was called to Highway 20 and Main St in the Village of Waterford at 6:49 p.m. Saturday.

When deputies arrived they observed a 13-year-old male lying in the eastbound lane of W. Main St.

An eye witness told deputies that a child was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in a marked cross walk.

That vehicle then left the scene.

It was described as a darker truck or SUV.

Later deputies located a possible suspect vehicle and took persons of interest in custody.

The child was taken to Children’s Hospital with what was described a substantial non-life threatening injuries.

Racine county Sheriff Christopher Schmaling stated that” Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family.”
