Young Boy Rescued From House Fire Early Saturday, Neighbors React

by Matt Doyle

Milwaukee -- Firefighters rescued a 7-year-old boy from a burning house Saturday morning.  The boy is in critical condition at Children's Hospital.

Neighbors say his name is Miguel.

"[He's a] very nice little boy, they're all in my prayers," neighbor Karen Leslie said.

The fire started at 3431 S. 10th Street early this morning.  Crews arrived just before 8:00 am.  The fire department said there was heavy smoke and heat coming from the second floor.

"There must have been eight or ten fire trucks out here in front," Leslie said.

The young boy was found in his bed.  He wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse.

"I don't even know what to say," Leslie said.  "I wish them the best and God bless them all."

The fire is still under investigation.
