MILWAUKEE -- Tennis legend Andre Agassi made a public appearance in Milwaukee for the opening of a new charter school. Agassi is the co-founder of the investment fund behind a push to create high-achieving charter schools across the country.

Rocketship Southside Community Prep will be the first Milwaukee area location born of this movement to provide great education opportunities for low-income children. There are plans to open eight K-5 schools in Milwaukee by 2017, serving up to 5,000 students.

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Agassi addressed quality concerns typically made against charter schools. "Rocketship has a track record that's outstanding both from educational perspective and a fiscal perspective," says Agassi.
