Sussex firefighter who crashed firetruck into car during Memorial Day parade after allegedly drinking fined

The Sussex firefighter driving a firetruck that crashed into a parked car during the Memorial Day parade in 2016 has been fined.

Tom Gerstner was driving the truck during the parade and was arrested and placed on leave after the incident because he had been drinking. Later Gerstner resigned from the fire department.

On July 12, 2017 Gerstner was in court on amended charges to Reckless Driving. A no contest plea was entered and Gerstner was fined $456.50 to be paid within 20 days. If the fine is not paid, Gerstner will spend eight days in jail.
