Students From Yale Help Local Kids Paint a Mural

MILWAUKEE - There was a pretty neat project going on at a Milwaukee elementary school yesterday morning. In fact, it even caught the attention of some members of an Ivy League Institution nearby.

Volunteers and alumni from Yale University touched up a mural of waves for the Trowbridge Elementary Street School's playground. The mural has special significance to the school.

"Our curricular focus is freshwater studies in the Great Lakes. We're the closest Milwaukee Public School to Lake Michigan, so when we're teaching our science curriculum, we do so through freshwater studies in the Great Lakes," Principal Tom Matthews said.

This was all part of Yale University's Global Day of Service. This was the 9th year that the "Yale Association of Wisconsin" has taken part in these types of service events.
