Storms to Dodge on Saturday, Not Sunday

Expect scattered showers and storms on Saturday.  However, the weekend is not a total loss.  Saturday will be bookended with a couple of nice weather days, including today and Sunday.  Meantime, the storms could fire in waves with one batch during the pre-dawn hours of Saturday and the other with daytime heating later in the day.

All this activity is in response to a warm front set to be located across northern Illinois on Saturday.  High pressure will kick the system out of here in time for Sunday.

Rainfall amounts could be hefty in spots, perhaps more than an inch, especially along and south of I-94.  Lesser totals will occur to the north.  Despite the rain we've seen this week, rainfall deficits in the area are close to eight inches.

There are a few other opportunities for rain, mainly on Tuesday and Saturday of next week.  But of course we're still fine tuning the forecast.  So keep checking back with us. And in the meantime, feel free to download the free CBS58 weather app to stay ahead of the storms.
