Storm Watch for Monday Afternoon & Evening

We have a slight risk of severe weather weather this afternoon and evening.  And keep in mind any sun we get will only help to destabilize the atmosphere even more. The biggest threats will be damaging wind and hail although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.  We are fair game for storms in the afternoon but even a better chance between 5 and 10 pm.

This is the classic textbook situation.  There's a cold front out to the west and a boundary across the metro area.  If the front lifts to the north, and we get lots of heating, then we set the stage for rather volatile weather as the cold front plows into this unstable air mass . Of course, the timing of all this happen, during peak heating, is concerning as well.

Much cooler behind this system, and it gets rainier by Wednesday afternoon.

You know the entire CBS58 weather team will be on top of this developing situation.  Please stay tuned and also download the free CBS58 weather app when you're on the go.  That way you can keep track of weather alerts and look at the radar when you're away from your home or computer.
