Stamp Prices to Drop

For the first time in nearly a century, stamp prices are going down.

On April 10th, a first class stamp will cost 47 cents, that’s down two cents from its current price of 49 cents.

The reduction is part of a pre-arranged agreement with Congress. The Post Office was allowed to increase the price of stamps by three cents back in 2014 to help raise 4.6 billion dollars in revenue. That hike was only meant to last for two years.

The last time we saw stamp prices drop was back in 1919 when prices dropped from three cents down to two.
