Shields in concussion protocol after hit in Jaguars game

GREEN BAY - The Packers have announced that cornerback Sam Shields is in concussion protocol after a hard hit in the fourth quarter of the Packers' 27-23 win over the Jaguars Sunday.

Shields' helmet cracked the helmet of Jacksonville running back T.J. Yeldon, and Shields left the field under his own power, but did not re-enter the game. It's the second concussion in nine months for Shields, who missed the Packers playoff opening game at Washington last season because of his first concussion.

Mike McCarthy says the team will evaluate Shields every day leading up to this Sunday's battle against the Minnesota Vikings.
