WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Three West Bend students are out of the hospital after the bus they were on crashed in Washington County Monday night.

The bus was coming down County Highway V when it crashed into a pickup truck and ended up in a ditch. Parents of the students on board the bus say it could have been so much worse.

Jackie Becker’s two sons were on the bus that crashed.

“They’re a little shook up, little nervous,” Becker said.

Eight students and a coach were onboard. Three students were taken to the hospital.

“I know that one has a concussion, the other one I had some knee or leg injuries, and the other couldn’t hear or sight was blurred,” Becker said.

She said some of the students noticed some red flags with the 63-year old bus driver even before the accident.

“On their way out to the bowling alley, I understood that the bus driver was on the right side of the road and was going on and off rumble strips and when they got there he bumped into or knocked into a pole when parking,” Becker said.

The bus company, Johnson School Bus Service, said they are investigating and should have more information in the coming days.

The Sheriff's Office says speed contributed to the crash and that neither the bus driver or the driver of the pickup truck were impaired at the time of the accident.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Four people were hurt following a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus in Kewaskum.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office was called to the crash on Highway 45 at County Highway V in Kewaskum around 6 p.m. on Monday.

The investigation revealed that there were 10 occupants on the bus including a 63-year-old operator from West Bend, 8 juvenile passengers, and 1 adult chaperone.

The second vehicle had two occupants, a 36-yearold Campbellsport man and a juvenile passenger.

According to the Sheriff's Office, four patients were taken to a local hospital. They all have what is believed to be minor injuries.

The investigation revealed that the school bus was operating eastbound on County Highway V and failed to stop at the stop sign at Highway 45.

The second vehicle which was operating northbound on Highway 45 slowed to turn westbound on County Highway V when it was struck by the school bus entering the intersection.

According to the Sheriff's Office, speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash.

There were no signs of impairment for either driver, the Sheriff's Office says.

The investigation remains ongoing,
