Search for the world's best cheese comes to Wisconsin

Get your taste buds ready. A cheese lover's paradise is coming to Madison.

The 2016 World Championship Cheese Contest will be held March 7-9 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center. It's free and open to the public between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The biennially event is hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.

This year's competition will be the biggest ever, with a record 2,948 submissions of cheese, butter and yogurt.

Expert judges will sniff, taste and examine each entry, deciding which will earn gold, silver, and bronze medals in individual cheese categories.

One of those judges, Dominique Delugeau, joined us on the CBS 58 News at 4 to explain what he looks for in a good cheese. Rebekah Sweeney with the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association was on hand too, to give consumers tips on how to choose the best cheese at the grocery store.
