UPDATE: Racine Unified says 'shots fired' sound came from a piece of machinery

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine Unified tells CBS 58 News that there were no shots fired near Park High School on Wednesday.

The school district released the following statement,

Racine Police responded to a call of possible gunshots fired at or near Park High School this evening after a staff member called 911 from inside the building. We want to assure our community there were no gunshots fired at or near Park High School this evening. Police were able to determine the sound came from a piece of machinery being used in a nearby classroom

We are extremely impressed by the emergency response of our students, staff and spectators who were in the building at the time and thankful for our police officers for their immediate action, professionalism and support this evening.

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine Police Department is currently investigating two reports of shots fired near Park High School.

The first report happened around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday near 12th and Linden.

The second report of shots fired happened shortly after 5 p.m. but officers did not discover anything on scene. 

There is currently no one in custody.

The investigation remains ongoing.
