UPDATE: Sheboygan Police referring charges after man's body found in crawlspace

UPDATE: SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Sheboygan Police are referring charges against a 16-year-old boy and a 29-year-old woman after the body of a man was found hidden in the crawlspace of a home. 

Authorities say on November 18, police responded to a home near 13th and Michigan for a report of someone possibly overdosing in the residence. Police searched the home and did not find a victim. 

Later, someone called police and said the victim may be hidden in the home. Officers then found the body of 30-year-old Matthew Mercure of Sheboygan, hidden in a crawlspace in the wall. 

Sheboygan Police believe Mercure overdosed while in the company of several people, including the resident. The subjects then panicked and hid Mercure's body in the crawlspace. 

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with additional information is asked to call Sheboygan Police at 920-459-3333.

UPDATE: SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Sheboygan Police have identified the body of a 30-year-old man found hidden in the crawlspace of a home.

The victim has been identified as Matthew Mercure, 30, of Sheboygan.

At this time, police believe the cause of death is consistent with an overdose.

The investigation remains ongoing.

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) – Sheboygan Police say the body of a 30-year-old man was found concealed in a crawlspace in a home on Tuesday.

Authorities say on Sunday, police responded to a home near 13th and Michigan for a report of someone possibly overdosing in the residence.

Police conducted a search and did not find the victim.

On Tuesday, a citizen called authorities and said the victim may be concealed in the home. That’s when responding officers found the victim  hidden in a crawlspace in the wall.

An autopsy is scheduled but police believe the cause of death is overdose. A 29-year-old woman is being held on a probation hold in connection with the incident.

The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.
