Pole barn and contents destroyed by early morning fire in Sheboygan County

Firefighters from Greenbush and 18 other communities battled a structure fire for over six hours early this morning.   Just before 3 AM, the Town of Greenbush Fire Department was alerted to a fire in a 40-foot by 80-foot pole barn along Wisconsin State Highway 23 near Chickadee Drive in western Sheboygan County.   When firefighters arrived, the pole barn was fully engulfed in flame.  Making firefighting efforts difficult was the cold and a wind with gusts estimated at 20-miles-per-hour.   Traffic on State Highway 23 was diverted by Sheboygan County Sheriff’s deputies while firefighters fought the blaze.  The pole barn and its contents, a tractor, a combine and 250 large straw bales are considered a total loss.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
