Pastors and residents call for violence in Milwaukee to end

People from different communities in Milwaukee gathered in a prayer vigil on 28th Street and W. Central Street hoping to end the wave of violence sweeping through the city.

As of Saturday, the homicide total stands at 84, nearly twice as many murders per capita as Chicago, and more than double the rate in Milwaukee last year.

Pastors, elders, and ministers came together with area residents to pray for the lives lost and for the violence to end.

Margot Brown attended Saturday’s prayer vigil for her son Maurice Brown. Brown was 19 when he was shot and killed at 28th and Burleigh Streets in 2013.
