Para World Sailing Championships underway in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58) – The Para World Sailing Championships are underway in Sheboygan.

For the past week, around 100 athletes from 40 countries have been competing in the annual event. 

The championships are divided into classes by boat type. For one American, it's the first time he's competed.

“It’s exciting to be here,” Massachusetts native Eli Workman said. “It’s really awesome to see both that I can be a serious sailor and to realize I'm at a caliber where I can compete here.”

The championships wrap up on Saturday.
