Packers first preseason game is against Patriots

Foxboro, MA - The 2015 Green Bay Packers get their first taste of game action Thursday night, squaring off against the New England Patriots at 6:30 in a matchup of teams whose rosters are filled with star players. Just don't expect to see much of those stars in this matchup.

Several reports from New England say Patriots QB Tom Brady will not play in the preseason opener after spending Wednesday in New York fighting a legal battle with the NFL over his four game suspension stemming from New England's ball-deflation scandal. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will likely see limited time on the field as well, meaning Jimmy Garoppolo and Scott Tolzien will likely see the bulk of action under center in the first half.

The Packers' first action against an opponent in the 2015 season will give young players a chance to impress coach Mike McCarthy and his staff. Specifically, linebacker and defensive line are two thin positions in which young players could earn spots with impressive performances in camp practices and preseason games.

Jared Abbrederis is not expected to play in Thursday's game as he continues his recovery from a concussion suffered on the first day of training camp. Several other Packers are questionable for this game, including Clay Matthews, Damarious Randall and Mike Daniels.

This game and all of Green Bay's preseason games can be seen in Spanish on Telemundo Wisconsin. Kevin Holden and Epi Guerrero have the call of Thursday's tilt starting at 6:30PM Central Time.
