Over 70 Marijuana Citations given during Dave Matthews Band Concert at Alpine Valley

On Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26, 2015, The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, The Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Wisconsin State Patrol conducted law enforcement efforts on and near the Alpine Valley Music Theatre for the two day Dave Matthews Band concerts.

Following are the results of the two day law enforcement efforts:

71 – Possession of Marijuana citations                                    
31– Possession of drug paraphernalia citations
23 - Underage consumption of alcohol          
1 – Trespass to land
4 – Disorderly Conduct
1 – Battery
1 – Obstructing an officer

A total of 132 citations.

Traffic enforcement was concentrated on Interstate 43 in Walworth County.  Six troopers, two K-9 handlers and a sergeant participated in the traffic detail on behalf of the Wisconsin State Patrol. 

The results included:

12 - Drug arrests with 2 being felonies for possession of heroin and schedule II prescriptions.  Other arrest included Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW), Obstructing an officer, 2 warrants and a Probation and Parole hold. 

Other totals included – 124 traffic stops, 225 warnings, 38 traffic citations and 16 K-9 deployments.

The remaining concerts for the 2015 Alpine Valley Music Theatre concert season include Phish on August 8 and 9 and Jimmy Buffett on August 22. Similar coordinated Law Enforcement efforts will take place during those shows.
