Over 300,000 child sales tax rebates already claimed in Wisconsin

WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- There are still over five weeks left to file your $100 per child sales tax rebate, but over 300,000 claims have already been filed. Claims must be sent in by July 2.

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue estimates that 1.22 million children in Wisconsin are eligible for the claim.

"The filing process is going very well. The online application system is easy to use, and it only takes a few minutes to apply. Because there is a deadline, we want to be sure people don't leave it until the last minute and then forget to apply," notes Department of Revenue Secretary Richard Chandler. "After July 2nd, we will no longer be able to accept claims, so if you're eligible, don't wait."

A qualified child must be under age 18 on December 31, 2017, a dependent of the claimant for tax year 2017, a Wisconsin resident on December 31, 2017 and a United States citizen.
