KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) – A Union Grove man is charged in the crash that killed a 53-year-old woman in Pleasant Prairie Monday night.

38-year-old Christopher Thayer made his first court appearance Wednesday.

He’s charged with homicide and causing injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle. According to the complaint, Thayer said he’d spent much of the day drinking at a bar and didn’t remember getting into his truck.

Police say Thayer’s truck crossed into the oncoming lane of Highway K and hit a car head on. Djuana Latshwa was killed and a 7-year-old in the car with her was injured.

Thayer will be back in court on January 17.

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The first deadly crash in Kenosha County of the new year takes the life of a 53-year-old woman and injures a young boy. 

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office says 53-year-old Djuana Latshaw's car was hit head-on by a drunk driver. The crash happened around 6:30 Monday evening near the intersection of Highway K and 120th Avenue in Kenosha. 

The Sheriff's Department says Latshaw was driving eastbound on Highway K when a pickup truck going the other direction, crossed into her lane and hit her head-on. She did not survive the crash. 

A 7-year-old boy was in the car with her. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive. The Sheriff's Department says the 38-year-old Kenosha man who hit their car was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) – One person is dead after a head-on car crash in Kenosha County on Monday.

According to authorities, a 53-year-old Kenosha woman died following the crash. Police say the crash occurred around 6:28 p.m. near 60th St. and 120th Ave. in Kenosha.

After an investigation, authorities say a sedan, driven by the victim, was traveling eastbound and hit head-on by a pick-up truck going west in the eastbound lanes. A 7-year-old passenger in the sedan was injured and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 38-year-old male, was injured and also taken to the hospital. Police say the man is charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated first offense, causing death.

The investigation is ongoing.
