Oak Creek High School assembly postponed following rumors of threats

OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A rumor of threats caused the postponement of Oak Creek High School's Celebrate Success and Prom Assembly on Friday.

According to school officials, the assembly was set to begin at 2 p.m. but a few students came forward to report rumors about threats that might happen at the assembly.

It was determined that the rumors had no credibility but an increased police and administrative presence was maintained throughout the rest of the school day.

Afterschool activities will continue as usual.

"We appreciate students bringing such rumors to our attention so we are able to take every step possible to provide for the safety of all students, employees, and visitors," school officials said in a release.
