NOAA releases its winter outlook

Get ready for a weak La Niña this coming winter, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.  This pattern represents cooler waters of the Pacific Ocean.  In turn, we could see snowier times across the Midwest and Great Lakes region. This is almost hard to think about, seeing how mild it's been lately.  Temperatures look to be "average" here.

Meanwhile, it's forecast to be warmer and drier than normal for the southern U.S., including California and Florida.  However, skiers take note, the ski resorts in the northern and central Rockies could pick up quite a lot of snow this season.
