New Berlin Police To Crack Down on Safety for School Bus Students

New Berlin-- Captain Mike Glider with the New Berlin Police Department knows the dangers that exist once school begins.

One of those dangers is the lack of drivers attention to children who ride the bus to school.

Many drivers pay no attention to school buses with flashing lights and stop signs. Those drivers simply pass the bus, sometimes at a high rate of speed.

Other dangers include speeding in areas where students are walking to make it to the bus stop assigned to them.

Captain Glider has seen the worst ossible scenario has happen before, and he doesn't want to see it again.

Apart from the very pricey fines involved in breaking the laws of the road, there are points that go along with the ticket.

CBS 58's Carlos Vergara spoke to captain Glider and a father and son who want nothing more than to have a safe school year.

See what they have to say in the video report.
