My Sista's KeepHer hosting Fire Awards in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An organization called My Sista’s KeepHer is hosting an event to recognize empowering women in the Milwaukee community. It’s called the Fire Awards. My Sista’s KeepHer is an organization that partners with Milwaukee Public Schools. During school time, women come in for about an hour or more each day and offer young girls the opportunity to gain self-empowerment and express themselves through art, and conversation.

The Fire Awards is the organization’s 2nd fundraiser. Some of the sponsors are the City of Milwaukee’s Office of Violence Prevention, real estate development company Haywood Group, along with Flurish Décor and Event Design.

While it’s sold out the organizations founder Tina Nixon says still in need of donations, volunteers and overall support for this year, and next year.

The Fire Awards will happen on Sunday September 16, 2017 at the Tripoli Shrine Center 3000 W Wisconsin Avenue starting at 4:30
