Mount Pleasant man arrested after allegedly throwing baby at shed during dispute with ex-girlfriend

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Mount Pleasant mas has now been charged following a dispute with his ex-girlfriend.

Anthony McNeal Jr is now charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Misdemeanor Battery, Disorderly Conduct, Possession of THC, and Obstructing an Officer.

Officers were made aware of a domestic abuse incident in the 5600 block of Castle Court on May 8 between a woman and McNeal.

The woman was attempting to get her belongings out of their apartment following their breakup. The woman had left their shared child, a 7-month-old boy, in the car.

The argument escalated between the two and McNeal allegedly grabbed the child from his car seat saying, "This is my baby b****! I'm keeping him."

According to the criminal complaint, the mother of the child then chased McNeal around the apartment complex. While the two were standing next to a shed, the woman asked for the baby back. That's when the defendant allegedly said "You want him? Here, take him now," and threw the baby, causing the baby to "slam" against the shed door and fall to the ground.

The woman was able to catch the child before he hit the ground. McNeal then allegedly pistol-whipped the woman.

Officers later responded to the Knights Inn, located on Oakes Road in Mount Pleasant, for a report of McNeal having contact with the female victim. McNeal had an active warrant for his arrest due to the previous incident. He was found hiding under the bed.

Officers located drug paraphernalia in the room.

McNeal will have his preliminary hearing on May 24.
