Motorcyclist swerves to avoid hitting dog in Racine County, dog owner cited

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after police say he swerved to avoid hitting a dog Thursday evening.

The Racine County Sheriff's Office says the 60-year-old was on a motorcycle on N. Front Street in the Village of Rochester. Deputies say the motorcyclist hit his head on the road when he swerved to avoid hitting a dog that had run out into traffic. Investigators say he was conscious and coherent when first responders arrived. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The dog owner was cited for Dog at Large. The dog was not hit in the accident.
