Mother of Five Shot Nine Times While Sitting in Van

A devastating story of gunfire in Milwaukee.

A mother of five is in the hospital,

The shooting happened near the south side intersection of 19th and Rogers.

She was shot nine times while sitting in her van with her kids.

The family tells CBS 58 that Tori Jones is in serious but stable condition, but they're still shaken up after what they believe should have never happened.

Shock, concern and fear overwhelm Diane Roberson after learning her daughter, 40-year-old Tori Jones was shot nine times.

The family believes it was a case of mistaken identity.

\"I was wondering if my daughter was going to make it,\" says Roberson. \"She adores her children. She's a doting mother to all of them. She's not a party person. She's a homemaker.\"

Police say the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Friday.

They were outside the home of one of Jones' adult children.

That's when Roberson says a man approached the van, looked inside and started shooting.

Roberson says Jones had just left her home after a family gathering.

\"Everything was going fine until last night. After such a wonderful time we were just having a my place. And then this happened. It just ruined the whole evening,\" she says.

Family friend Mark Moon is offering a 25 hundred dollar reward for anyone who knows of the suspect.

\"This guy, he has such a disregard for human life. He's going to shoot more people. No problem. We need to get this guy off the streets,\" said Moon.

\"For whoever is listening and watching, hopefully they'll come forward and we can put this person who do not need to be out on the street behind bars,\" said Roberson.

The family says none of the bullets hit any vital organs.

But there's still one bullet lodged in Jones' back.

No one else in the van was harmed.

Police do not have a description of the suspect, but they are still investigating.
